The Liverpool and Egypt player talks about his career and how he got to be one of the most well-known football players in the world in the interview.
The star of Liverpool and Egypt, Mohamed Salah, will be the focus of a later cover story for GQ Middle East. The story will include an exclusive interview with Salah and his first-ever picture shoot for the magazine.
The interview, which celebrates Salah’s rise to fame as a cultural icon, looks at how the 26-year-old football player went from modest beginnings in Egypt to mastering his craft in Europe and rising to become one of the most well-known players in the world.
Buzz White and Olivia Harding styled the Manchester photo session, which features Salah donning pieces from Cartier, Burberry, Off-White, Prada, Stone Island, Dunhill, Y-3, and Ermeneglido Zegna.
He talks about a variety of subjects in the feature, including his feelings upon receiving his first contract.
“During that time, I made the decision that I had to play professional football,” he stated. “I wasn’t going to pass up this opportunity.” One of my first significant choices was to “don’t let this slip from your hands.”
He also mentioned how important his father was to his accomplishments.
“I used to gripe about not wanting to make the four-hour trip to training. But he supported me and informed me that this is a common experience for all great athletes,” he said. “I’ll never forget the role he played in my career, even though the price he paid was very high.”
Salah commented, “It makes me want to work harder and to continue performing,” after becoming a Liverpool star.
“Because people won’t accept it if your standards drop after that.” I don’t see it as greater pressure, but it’s a terrific feeling,” he continued.
Salah also gives guidance to young football players who aspire to be like him.
Nothing was going to come easily to me. Nothing positive ever occurs. I experienced every phase a football player might experience. You notice a change in everything when you move from an Arab nation to Europe, including the food, communication, and lifestyle standards. You’re not sure what to do,” he uttered. “After that, you start to get organized because you want to accomplish your objectives. In the event that you give up, you’ll never leave your house. That’s not at all disparaging; if that’s what you want, then so be it.
