Coach Roberto Martinez replaced Fernando Santos after Portugal was eliminated in the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals against Morocco. The Spanish coach won all 12 matches with Portugal, conceding only 2 goals and scoring 44 goals. The former Belgium coach helped Portugal comfortably qualify for the UEFA 2024 Euro by winning all 10 matches in the qualifying round and topping the group.
