Victory Isn’t Everything: Arteta Expresses Frustration, Angering Arsenal Fans Again

Arsenal fans are unhappy with manager Mikel Arteta with midfielder Kai Havertz on the bench.

Arsenal fans frustrated with Arteta

Havertz authored the only goal to help Arsenal beat Brentford 1-0 in the Premier League last week. However, against Wolves last night, the Germany international was suddenly benched by manager Arteta and only allowed to play the last 13 minutes.

Havertz’s replacement in Arsenal’s midfield was Leandro Trossard, and in fact the former Brighton star performed quite well. However, many Gunners fans find it strange that Havertz is starting to improve and has gained confidence and is on the bench.

One person commented: “The moment Havertz started playing well, he didn’t start again.” Another fan asked: “Why did Arteta sideline Havertz after a game where he played so well?” A third said: “Havertz deserves to start but Arteta also needs to rotate. “Image

Before tearing into the Brentford net, Havertz had only scored 1 goal for Arsenal in the Premier League this season, against Bournemouth in late September. So far, what position is best suited for Havertz has been controversial, especially since he played left-back in Germany not too long ago.

Arteta tends to position Havertz in attack or left in a three-man midfield in his preferred 3-4-3 formation. Overall, the 3-year-old still needs more time to confirm himself in an Arsenal shirt.
